Women in Photography Blogger

Women in Photography Blogger

We're looking for someone to highlight the work of current women photographers from around the world on our women's social media site.
Women photographers are becoming a moving force in print media and on the web, connecting the world in new and engaging ways and telling wonderful, important, and fun stories from diverse cultures and corners of the world. We would like to showcase their work and stories on our site and we need someone to bring the work together.

PNN - The Personal News Network is a social media site for women - our goal is to connect and inspire bright, curious and passionate women from around the world through personal dialogues.

Expectations:
Your job will be to find and post a photograph five times a week, including a short story about the shot.  Since we're looking for photos that tell stories your writing won't have to be lengthy.  It's up to you to make sure you have the proper permissions and give appropriate credit and links back.  You'll be using our platform to post (don't worry; it's one of the easiest on the planet).  It would be helpful, but not required, that you be part of the women's photography community.

Compensation
$100 a month, plus a share of ad revenues.

Application
Use the link below to post a sample photograph and story - you can post one photo or many; it's up to you.  When you join via this link your entry is your resume - your work is automatically forwarded to us.

If you are already a registered user on PNN, simply join the 'Women in Photography Group' and post.

We'll make our choice on Dec 20, 2008.

How to Apply

How to Apply

Featured Authors:

  • Pick a topic from our 'Available Channels' list
  • Join PNN
  • Use your real name, and upload a good photo for your byline
  • Set up a site.  Ask as many questions as you want, we'll give as much help as we can.
  • Start posting
  • Tag all your articles and photos.  Make sure one of the tags includes your subject - like 'politics' or 'sports'. Along with your other tags include the exact word 'authorapplicant'

When you've past the deadline date for that position day, and have tthe requisite page views (if required), let us know by sending us a note with your site address.  Send to: leigh@pnn.com.

You don't have to post continually (of course we'd love you to and think you'd enjoy it) you can send along your resume at any time.  We suggest 30 days to give you time to see if this is something you like doing, and to see if you are getting any response from the readers.  We do ask that you set up a site to make sure  your comfortable with the system, again, we're around to answer questions.

If you already have a site outside PNN, or are an established journalist and think that it would be a good match, simply contact us directly.

That's it.  We'll watch your progress.  To see how you're doing just log in and look under the 'stats' tab in your preferences.  It will show you how many times someone has looked at your page (called page views).  You can also click on your profile icon at the top of the page to see how many people are subscribing to you, and how many votes you've received.

Questions?  Email Leigh directly: leigh@pnn.com

Thank you for writing on PNN, I know it takes time and effort and it's very much appreciated.
